TSEU has adopted an Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy that reflects its commitment to the creation of a diverse and motivated workforce. From the point of recruitment through to appointment and then the development of all individuals, the company aims to ensure that everybody is offered equal opportunity.

"Although TSEU operates nationally, we see ourselves as a series of local companies delivering a local service by local people using local resources. In order to achieve this our recruitment policies and practices are designed to maximise access to local people and to recruit a workforce that matches the diversity within an area. Our aim is to have a workforce that is representative of the population and the communities in which we operate," says Tracy Williams, Human Resources.

One aspect of the policy is to combat bullying and minimise stress that, otherwise, could affect the health, confidence, morale and job performance of employees. Just as importantly, the company is acting on its good intentions. A dedicated Equal Opportunities and Diversity team is delivering training at all levels within the company in order to establish and maintain a positive working environment where all employees are valued for their input and treated fairly.

"We've set high standards for ourselves. We want not only to achieve these standards, we want to maintain them," says Tracy Williams, Human Resources. "So our Equality and Diversity team meets on a regular basis to openly discuss a broad range of measures covering all aspects of performance in equality issues. This regular self monitoring ensures that all our staff are able to work in an atmosphere which promotes dignity and respect and is free from harassment and bullying."
