These products are the eyes and ears of any traffic control and monitoring system. Without high quality data from these sources accurate and effective traffic control and network management are made infinitely tougher. TSEU can offer the user a wide range of detection technologies and continues to develop this part of its product base.
It is usual to separate detectors into below ground technologies and above ground solutions.
The first microprocessor based inductive loop vehicle detectors were developed by TSEU's predecessor, Microsense over 25 years ago.
A range of products are offered from small single channel boxed detectors to Eurocard four channel units with operating voltages of 12Vdc, 24Vdc and 110 Vac and 230 Vac.
All our loop detectors have adjustable sensitivities to allow optimisation for different vehicle types and frequency selection to prevent cross talk between detectors. As well as being used on public roads, loops are often used for security and parking equipment control, and have even been used on taxiways for aircraft detection.
The above ground range of products includes microwave Doppler detectors that respond both to metallic and other objects moving in the detection zone. These allow detection of moving pedestrians as well as moving vehicles. Versions are available with user selectable operational characteristics to suit a range of situations found on street.
Unique to TSEU is the AIM family, a second generation of near infrared devices that use well defined detection zones to respond to moving or static object. In operational characteristics they are very similar to loop products. While zone adjustment is difficult and costly with loops, above ground detector zones can easily be adjusted to get best performance. Members of the AIM family address detection for four main applications; loop alternatives e.g. on bridge decks, stop line coverage where zone adjustment is often needed, pedestrian wait areas at the kerb, and two zone detection in a single lane, allowing the majority of point traffic characteristics to be derived. These products are very adaptable and can be used for a wide range of other application, including train detection.
