Every signal controlled junction is potentially unique, having different numbers of approaches, lanes, modes of operation, timetabled events, detector inputs etc. Because of this diversity each junction has to be configured individually.
The TSEU configurator is a desk top software package that runs on your PC specifically for this job.
Users may enter data into dedicated locations on a number of screens. The configurator checks the consistency of the data for validity before allowing the information to be exported as a ‘hex’ file which can be used by the TSEU Sentinel or MTC traffic controllers or in the TSEU Controller Emulator.
Configuration data is stored and can be easily output in a standard form to printers for hard copy archiving.
Designing, configuring and validating a signal controlled junction is an expert task. In order to check that the controller will work as required TSEU have developed the Sentinel Controller Emulator.
The Emulator uses exactly the same software as the Sentinel Controller but set to run on a PC. In place of real detectors and lamps, users have windows with buttons and displays with signals to show the operation of the junction.
The emulator is designed to run more than one controller simultaneously, allowing linked sites or cableless linking to be tested.
Users will want to see how junctions operate under real load conditions, so the Emulator can be run either with a traffic queue simulator which lets users draw and place carriageway, detectors and signals. Clients can then run their own mix of traffic through the site or they may link the Emulator to micro-simulation models to allow real junction control inside existing models of the network.
Contact TSEU to get an up to date list of micro-simulation packages that are supported.
